Storage and Bowling Championships 2013

Storage and Bowling Championships 2013 written by Julia West from Fort Knox management Team.

Each year members of the Victorian arm of the Self Storage Association Australasia (SSAA) get together for an annual tenpin bowling competition. The prefect balance of storage and bowling, this year’s championship was hosted this year at AMF Knox Ozone. Members engaged in a fun environment where networking and relationship building was encouraged and although very modest in daily running of their businesses, when it was time to roll, all bets were off and there was feeling in the air that things were about to get real. Very real.

Once the competition began, things really started to heat up.

With all participants hailing from the SSAA, all aspects of the self storage industry were represented, from small independents to large national companies, mobile storage and various removalist companies.

Fort Knox Self Storage had a great number of participants for the evening. With 8 teams and supporters from all of our branches throughout Melbourne, we got into the spirit of the evening and made our presence known. We had the added pressure of defending our title as the 2012 Champions and knew that we had our work cut out for us.

With several spares, strikes and a few “Barney Rubbles” (doubles) there were many occasions for cheering, high 5’s and celebratory dances.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts from all involved, Fort Knox Self Storage did not get to take home the annual trophy, but we did achieve the glory as the team whom scored the highest gutter balls and won the most enthusiastic bowler award.

As we reflect on our loss, we salute Mini Movers for becoming the 2013 bowling champions. A huge congratulations to James, Sam, Josh and Colin for an outstanding score of 1088 pins. But by the end of the night the big winners were storage and bowling.

Mini Movers were the champions for the evening – taking home the imaginary commemorative ‘Pin Pals’ bowling shirt.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
