Food, glorious food

It’s almost that time again in Melbourne for the annual Good Food and Wine Festival. A yearly celebration of all things food and wine, with over 250 individual events both free and ticketed. The festival runs for a total of 10 days, from the 4th of March through to the 13th of March, 2016.

Although this doesn’t anything to do with self storage, it has a lot to do with Melbourne and with Fort Knox Self Storage being Melbourne born and bred, we’re always interested and proud of some of the big events that occur in and around our great city. We also happen to really enjoy food here at Fort Knox Self Storage, so we thought we would say a few words about the festival and some of the amazing events you can attend.

Showing the steps to create a food masterpiece.

Of the many events on offer during the festival, some of the highlights include a series of Master Classes where you can hear and learn from some of the industry’s top talents, both local and International. Additionally, the ‘Longest Lunch’ is also a top event during the festival, which seems to get bigger and bigger each year –  with this year’s table stretching 500m along the the length of Melbourne’s Formula 1 race track’s main straight. There are also an additional 24 regional ‘long lunches’ held simultaneously around the state.

Dessert is served!

Another winner during The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is their Restaurant Express Lunch special which sees a slew of high profile restaurants offer a special festival set lunch menu at a greatly reduced fixed price. So basically, you can eat in some of the top restaurants around Melbourne for a fraction of what you would normally pay.

A great selection of amazing cheese, all available from the Festival Hub this year.

Also, as usual during the MFWF, Queensbridge Square becomes home to the Festival’s hub, with this year the focus being dairy, including pop ups from famous ice creameries, a bakery, a cheese shop and a bar all within the festival hub space.

So, if you’re a foodie, or even if you’re not, there’s something going on for almost everyone during the festival.  You can check it out here http://www.melbournefoodandwine.com.au
