Why she chose us

After retuning to Australia from living overseas for 12 years, Barbra took the leap from hospitality customer service manger into self storage. She had no idea about the industry before she started, but the hours and location were perfect, as she had two young school children. Most importantly, her hospitality skills transferred perfectly and she has excelled in this role. She has successfully transferred her talent for selling rooms to selling storage units.

An award winner.

Barbra is an exceptional manager, and in 2018 she received the Self Storage Association of Australasia manager of the year award. This industry award is in recognition of her outstanding management skills across the 4 storage facilities that she oversees. She is a strong team leader with great people skills, and a great example for new team members. As a result she is a very deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

Leading by example.

Barbra is a keen participant in Fort Knox team building and charity events. She eagerly turns up to “sleep at the G” to raise money to help end homelessness. She also attends team building events, like Beyond the boardroom’s prosthetic hand building for victims of land-mines. Above all, as an area manager, she sets a strong example for her teams by contributing and participating regularly.

It’s all about the people.

When asked why she is still with Fort Knox, Barbra says the reason is the values and culture of the company. In addition, she enjoys meeting new people and also the fact that every day is different!
