Helping to end youth homelessness
Every day, as the daylight fades and dark of night descends upon us, there are as many as 6,000 young Victorians living without a place to call home. Cold, damp, scared and hungry, they battle the harsh elements day in and day out across Victoria in search of shelter.
Fort Knox Self Storage is humbly partnering with Melbourne City Mission for its third year in a row in a fight to help end youth homelessness.
Sleep At The ‘G raises much need furs to help support Melbourne’s homeless youth,
10 of our brave Fort Knox Storage Experts are preparing for a cold night ahead as they exchange the comforts of a warm bed for the cold harsh concrete of our iconic MCG to raise money for Melbourne City Mission’s “Sleep at the G” campaign. With a beanie, a box, a cup of soup and a bread roll, they are getting ready for a night to remember.
As a family owned and operated business we struggle to fathom that in one of the world’s most liveable cities, Melbourne has so many children whom are homeless. Many of them due to no fault of their own, victims of poverty, family breakdown, abuse and neglect. We are pleased to be able to offer our support not just as a company but as individuals as well.
A cold night at the MCG with nothing but a cardboard box between you and concrete.
Fort Knox Self Storage has donated all the cardboard boxes in support of the event. To give participants a real sense of the sleeping conditions for many of our young homeless, Fort Knox Big Boxes will be used as beds for the expected 1600 sleepers who will sleep out at the G. Our Storage Experts have volunteered to not only assist with the distribution of “beds” but to sleep like homeless themselves and raise much need funds and awareness for such an important cause.
So as you put on your cosy PJ’s tonight and hop into your comfortable bed we ask you to think of Melbourne’s young homeless scouring the streets for a safe place to rest their heads. We invite each and everyone one of the wider Fort Knox Self Storage community to get behind our sleepers and sponsor them and together we can join the fight to end youth homelessness.
